Director of Finance / Controller

An emerging entertainment studio specializing in short-form streaming and app-based content is establishing a finance leadership role to build and oversee its accounting function. This position offers direct collaboration with executive leadership across Los Angeles and Israel, managing complex investor relations and financial consolidations in a fast-evolving production environment. Responsibilities

• Lead the development and management of the finance department, including hiring and mentoring accounting staff.
• Oversee investor relations by preparing detailed KPIs and financial reports tailored to multiple stakeholders.
• Manage month-end close processes, ensuring accurate amortization of studio expenses and capitalization of production costs.
• Coordinate financial consolidations across international divisions, including intercompany transactions and special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for productions.
• Utilize equity management platforms such as Carta to handle 409A valuations and support fundraising activities.
• Collaborate closely with senior leadership to prepare for board meetings and strategic financial reviews.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and maintain rigorous internal controls in a fast-paced production cycle.

Qualifications

• Must-Have:
  • Proven experience in finance leadership roles within entertainment, production accounting, or technology-driven companies.
  • Strong background in investor relations, financial consolidations, and reporting to diverse stakeholders.
  • Hands-on knowledge of amortization, capitalization of production expenses, and managing SPVs.
  • Familiarity with equity management tools such as Carta and understanding of 409A valuations.
  • Ability to operate independently in a startup or high-growth environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with executives across multiple geographies.
• Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience working with cross-border teams, particularly between the U.S. and Israel.
  • Background in financial systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar ERP platforms.
  • CPA certification or equivalent public accounting experience.
