Accounting Manager

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and consolidate internal financial data to support outsourced bookkeeping handled by an external CPA firm.
• Oversee employee expense submissions and ensure accurate monthly bookkeeping and reconciliations using QuickBooks and Concur.
• Manage daily banking activities, including invoice processing, receipt handling, and transaction approvals.
• Collaborate with global accounting teams to prepare monthly financial statements and address accounting arrangements as needed.
• Reconcile semi-annual royalty accounts related to music publishing and label operations.
• Lead the transition and audit processes for the company’s US entity, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Resolve complex accounting matters involving joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and other entertainment industry transactions.

Qualifications

• Must-Have:
  • Minimum five years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping under US-GAAP standards.
  • Proven track record reviewing monthly financial statements and managing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience working with royalty accounting or within the music/entertainment sector.
  • Background in public accounting, preferably with Big Four, mid-tier firms, or active CPA credentials.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Concur, and advanced spreadsheet skills (Google Sheets or Excel).
  • Strong attention to detail and a disciplined, responsible approach to financial management.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external auditors.
• Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience in a music label or entertainment company environment.
  • Familiarity with tax filing processes and corporate administrative support.
  • Japanese language skills to facilitate communication with Tokyo headquarters.
