A leading global alternative investment management firm is seeking a Vice President to join its Fund Accounting team. The firm manages a significant institutional asset base across a range of credit-oriented investment strategies, including leveraged credit, private and illiquid credit, direct lending, structured credit, and real estate.

The Vice President, Fund Accounting will be responsible for day-to-day fund accounting, financial reporting, and operational oversight across a portfolio of investment funds and related entities.
This is a hands-on managerial position involving close interaction with third-party fund administrators, internal investment professionals, investor relations, operations, tax and legal teams, external auditors, and junior accounting professionals.
While part of the broader Fund Accounting department, this role will have a significant focus on the firm’s growing Real Estate Credit platform, including real estate debt funds and related special purpose vehicles.
Review and approve month-end fund and special purpose vehicle (SPV) NAV reporting prepared by third-party fund administrators, with particular focus on complex entities within the Real Estate Credit platform.
Review and approve investor allocations, contributions, withdrawals, management fees, incentive fees, carried interest calculations, investor capital statements, and ILPA reporting.
Calculate gross and net IRRs and other key fund performance metrics.
Partner with Investor Relations and investment professionals on quarterly investor reporting, including fund- and portfolio-level financial information.
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of fund reporting.
Coordinate and actively manage annual financial statement audits for funds and SPVs.
Review financial statements prepared by third-party fund administrators.
Ensure financial statements comply with U.S. GAAP.
Draft and review new or modified financial statement disclosures as necessary.
Work closely with external auditors and service providers to resolve accounting and reporting matters.
Provide accounting guidance to internal Middle Office and Operations teams regarding new and complex investments.
Assist with accounting treatment and booking instructions for complex private real estate credit investments with bespoke terms.
Provide guidance on complex transactions, including restructurings and reorganizations, in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Interpret complex deal-level priority-of-payment structures and waterfall calculations common within real estate credit.
Review consolidation workbooks, intercompany eliminations, and non-controlling interest calculations prepared by fund administrators.
Conduct technical accounting research as needed.
Prepare technical accounting memoranda when required.
Assist with resolution of technical accounting and audit matters.
Assess existing accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls and recommend enhancements.
Identify and implement process improvements across the broader accounting function.
Enhance the use of technology and automation within accounting and reporting processes.
Help streamline workflows and improve scalability as the Real Estate Credit platform continues to grow.
Manage new fund and SPV launches, coordinating with internal teams and external service providers.
Collaborate closely with investment professionals, legal, tax, investor relations, operations, and other functional teams.
Manage cross-functional requests and overlapping responsibilities across departments.
Train, coach, and mentor junior accounting professionals.
Manage workload allocation among team members and ensure appropriate utilization of offshore and external resources.
Lead and support ad hoc projects, analyses, management reporting, investor requests, and regulatory initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA strongly preferred.
Approximately 8–13+ years of progressive fund accounting experience.
Combination of public accounting and private investment management experience preferred.
Demonstrated managerial or team leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of credit instruments and complex investment fund structures.
Hands-on experience with real estate credit, real estate debt, or closely related credit strategies.
Experience with complex real estate credit deal structures.
Strong understanding of complex waterfall calculations and priority-of-payment structures.
Experience with loan participations, note-on-note financing, and other technical accounting matters common within real estate credit.
Experience with consolidation accounting under U.S. GAAP.
Familiarity with private REIT qualification and reporting requirements preferred.
Familiarity with ILPA reporting requirements.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP applicable to investment companies and financial reporting.
Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proactive and collaborative approach with the ability to work across multiple functional areas.
Strong project management and time management capabilities.
Ability to remain organized and effective in a fast-paced investment management environment.
