Responsibilities

• Collaborate with investment, legal, and product teams to design tax-efficient structures for new funds and vehicles spanning credit, private equity, and real estate strategies.
• Provide tax guidance on deal execution, including acquisitions, dispositions, and complex credit instruments such as securitizations and direct lending transactions.
• Analyze U.S. and international tax implications for investments, recommending optimal use of special purpose entities, blockers, and holding companies.
• Address investor tax inquiries and coordinate with external advisors to manage withholding tax and carried interest calculations.
• Oversee compliance with tax provisions for corporate entities and specialized structures like REITs, RICs, and BDCs, ensuring alignment with evolving regulations.
• Drive improvements in tax workflows, controls, and automation to support scalability and operational efficiency within the tax function.
• Develop and maintain internal tax frameworks and precedents to standardize structuring approaches across the firm’s investment platforms.

Qualifications

• Must-Have:
  • 2–5 years of transactional tax experience at a large law firm or Big 4, preferably supporting private investment funds or alternative asset managers.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. partnership and corporate tax, including federal, state, and international aspects relevant to fund structures.
  • Experience with fund formation, investment deal structuring, and the use of SPVs, blockers, and offshore vehicles.
  • Familiarity with tax treatment of credit and fixed-income products, including structured credit and securitizations.
  • Ability to translate complex tax issues into clear, actionable advice for cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills tailored to legal, investment, finance, and investor audiences.
  • Proven capacity to manage external counsel and tax advisors effectively toward timely resolutions.
• Nice-to-Have:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree with admission to a U.S. state bar.
  • LL.M. in Taxation or equivalent advanced tax education.
  • Exposure to multi-tiered partnership structures and state tax considerations.
  • Experience working within a high-volume, fast-growing financial services environment.
