Stepping into a hands-on Controller role within a specialized manufacturer and distributor of precision irrigation products, this position offers direct collaboration with senior leadership to elevate financial operations and reporting. The successful candidate will oversee accounting functions across two entities, guiding a small team through month-end close, audit readiness, and strategic financial analysis in a manufacturing and assembly environment. Located in Arvada, Colorado, this role demands a blend of detailed accounting expertise and practical business partnership within an ERP-driven setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle for two operating entities, ensuring timely and accurate month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation aligned with GAAP standards.
• Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to leadership, highlighting variances, risks, and opportunities to support informed decision-making on pricing, inventory, and capital investments.
• Oversee working capital components including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory valuation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize cash flow and operational efficiency.
• Develop, document, and enforce internal controls and compliance procedures to safeguard assets and maintain audit readiness across all finance processes.
• Lead and mentor a small accounting team, setting clear expectations and fostering skill development to enhance accuracy and accountability.
• Drive improvements in financial systems and reporting automation within SAP Business One or similar ERP platforms to increase data integrity and workflow efficiency.
• Support special projects such as system implementations, intercompany accounting, and integration activities to streamline financial operations.

Qualifications

• Must-Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Five to seven years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on management of month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, preferably involving assembly operations and inventory management.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, ideally SAP Business One or comparable platforms, for financial and operational reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, account reconciliations, and cash-flow management.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop junior accounting staff while balancing detailed accounting tasks with broader financial analysis.
  • Effective communication skills to translate financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
• Nice-to-Have:
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or an advanced degree like an MBA.
  • Experience with multi-entity reporting, intercompany transactions, and international finance coordination.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing and variance analysis.
  • Background in ERP implementation, reporting automation, or business intelligence initiatives.
  • Industry experience in irrigation, agriculture, plastics, or light manufacturing sectors.
