Responsibilities

  • Oversee and guide the accounting team, providing mentorship and support.
  • Manage the monthly financial closing process, ensuring accurate recording of expenses, reviewing journal entries, reconciling account balances, and preparing reports.
  • Continuously seek ways to enhance system efficiencies and improve business practices.
  • Work with external auditors to achieve successful audit outcomes and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with external tax professionals to facilitate accurate year-end tax filings and compliance.
  • Engage in daily accounting tasks within the general accounting functions.
  • Reconcile balance sheet and profit & loss accounts.
  • Prepare financial statements for reporting purposes.
  • Investigate technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Review general ledger accounts and address any accounting or reconciliation discrepancies.
  • Implement and maintain inventory and cost control measures.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, overseeing the company-wide consolidation efforts.
  • Handle sales and use tax filings across multiple states, including California, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, and Texas.
  • Collaborate closely with operations to address their accounting needs and resolve any related issues.
  • Identify and propose opportunities for simplification and automation within current financial processes and systems.
  • Lead and participate in various project initiatives aimed at improving process systems.
  • Prepare and assist with internal management reporting.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, with flexibility in scheduling and hours as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate accounting, encompassing full cycle accounting.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP is essential.
  • Experience in the multi-unit restaurant or retail sectors is preferred.
