Description:

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the operations accounting team, fostering skill development and professional growth while promoting a culture of accuracy and effective communication.
• Serve as the primary accounting liaison for operations teams, delivering training on accounting principles and inventory management to plant staff. Regularly update and maintain accounting procedures for plant operations.
• Evaluate team forecasts for variances and prepare monthly purchase variance analyses. Supervise monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, while analyzing financial statements to assess overhead and operational variances that impact plant performance.
• Oversee operations accounting processes, including calculations, tracking of overhead, manufacturing and inventory variances, purchase price variances, and reviewing financials prepared by the plant.
• Act as a key contact point among operational teams, internal and external auditors, general accounting, and financial reporting functions.
• Assess current procedures to identify areas for improvement, ensuring alignment with best practices and compliance with internal controls and SOX regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; a Master’s degree or CPA designation is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a relevant field.
• At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting.
• Background in the manufacturing or consumer products sector is essential.
• Experience with conducting physical inventories.
• Proficiency in ERP systems is required.
• Strong skills in MS Excel and overall proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
