Description:

Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly labor meetings and collaborate with all departments to proactively forecast and manage labor expenses.
  • Generate standard and custom payroll reports as required.
  • Authorize weekly gratuities submitted by various departments.
  • Be prepared to process bi-weekly payroll when necessary.
  • Oversee the Labor Management System, including forecasts, staffing guides, schedules, and distribution of management information.
  • Assist with month-end closing by preparing payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Support the Director of Finance in preparing all monthly and annual financial statements, providing insights and answers regarding the general ledger.
  • Contribute to the preparation of property budgets, capital budgets, and business plans as needed.
  • Proactively collaborate with the Director of Finance to troubleshoot property cost controls and enhance revenue.
  • Ensure comprehensive knowledge of all job responsibilities of direct reports to facilitate effective training and support.
  • Be ready to perform the duties of direct reports in cases of absence or turnover.
  • Work with the Director of Finance to implement tailored evaluations, career planning sessions, and collaborative goal setting.
  • Foster a “service culture” among Finance and Accounting staff.
  • In collaboration with the Vice President of Finance and Director of Finance, manage and enforce internal controls and standard operating procedures.
  • Create a positive and productive work environment.
  • Keep the Director of Finance updated on the status of issues, successes, and challenges, and undertake special projects as needed.
  • Direct and ensure the accurate execution of accounting practices, maintenance of financial records, and timely preparation of financial reports.
  • Utilize standard reporting and insightful metrics to drive continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Possess a solid understanding of operational and back-office systems, as well as Microsoft Office products, to assist staff with training and support.
  • Assist the Director of Finance in completing the year-end audit process.
  • Complete assigned balance sheet reconciliations and audit documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and timely filing of local and state tax returns.
  • Complete assigned balance sheet reconciliations following established corporate formats, standard operating procedures, and GAAP.

Qualifications

  • This role will primarily focus on payroll and labor management.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Demonstrated success as a team member in a dynamic finance organization within the hospitality industry.
