Commercial real estate investment firm in West LA is looking for a Chief Accounting Officer. This role will be highly visible and integral to the financial management of the Company, working with and supporting other departments including Finance, Asset Management and Acquisitions.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financials, property accounting, budgeting and reporting process, and forecasting
  • Financial planning through financial modeling and analysis
  • Monitoring the financial performance of the Company
  • Respond to financial related questions from lenders, and other
  • Partner with other internal departments to ensure that communications and presentation materials are
  • Oversee the month-end close, CAM reconciliation, and ensuring propriety and timeliness of payments to vendors and billings to tenants.
  • Review the general ledger and analysis of financial
  • Oversee the ‘budget – to actual’ variance analysis
  • Ensure budget and forecast models are
  • Prepare financial data for executive management and board
  • Execute special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed
  • Prepare and monitor Company cash flow projections for multiple operating entities
  • Cash management for multiple operating entities
  • Participate in the review of closing statements on proposed transactions
  • Familiar with the acquisition and disposition process including experience with 1031 exchanges
  • Participate in the closing of all loan transactions
  • Assist in coordinating with outside accounting firm to ensure tax returns are filed timely
  • Ensure that estimated taxes, business taxes, and other taxes are paid timely
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in accounting or business-related field
  • CPA status is required, Graduate degree a plus
  • 10 + years of experience in real estate accounting /or related
  • Likely candidate will have come through an accounting or finance background
  • Experience in Yardi software
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally within all levels of the organization and externally with lenders and other outside parties
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Must possess a strong work ethic
  • Must be a team player
