Controller role with a prominent multi-brand restaurant company headquartered out of Orange County.

The role would report to the CFO and have 2 direct reports. There is a lot of opportunity for growth and working closely with C-Suite. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of accountants, accounts payable, and regional office managers.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, federal, state, and local laws and ethical business practices related to accounting operations and financial reporting.
  • Prepare, deliver, and analyze weekly cash flow statement and make recommendations to maintain and/or improve cash position.
  • Prepare, deliver, and analyze internal financial statements to various recipients using clear and concise approach.
  • Visit restaurants to spot-check cash handling procedures are being followed, controls are in place, and managers are continuously trained on control procedures.
  • Prepare Support Center/G&A budget and report on performance.
  • Assist preparation of annual budget for Restaurant and Real Estate/Aviation divisions.
  • Responsible for keeping the Accounting Manual up to date.
  • Oversee compliance and execution of treasury/bank functions.
  • Utilize technology to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency in accounting cycle.
  • Partner with Operations team to identify areas of opportunity with respect to controls and/or spending in the restaurants.
  • Lead and deliver all audit requests and documentation to ensure timely and accurate completion of the Company’s annual external audit.
  • Review and approve as necessary journal entry batches, check runs, and outgoing wires.
  • Co-prepare and co-present to the Company’s Board of Directors/Audit Committee.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required.
  • CPA required.
  • At least 3 years’ financial management experience including leading an accounting team.
  • Restaurant experience preferred.
  • Experience with Restaurant 365 accounting system a plus.
  • Previous Board presentation experience a plus.
