As the Director of Accounting, you will play a pivotal role in leading our financial close process and guiding our accounting team to new heights of success.
Responsibilities:
- Lead an efficient 5-day close process, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant results.
- Review reconciliations of large data sets from various platforms.
- Provide guidance to the team by reviewing B/S & P&L accounts, schedules, and journal entries.
- Oversee multiple areas including Inventory, Cost Accounting, Revenue, Receivables, Advertising, CapEx, SG&A, etc., ensuring financial accuracy across our vertically integrated business operations.
- Stay up-to-date with new accounting guidelines and lead their adoption in accordance with GAAP. Prepare technical memos and implement policy changes as needed.
- Serve as the main contact with external auditors, manage PBC (Provided by Client) requests, and prepare financial statements and footnotes.
- Lead systems integration, customization, and other accounting projects.
- Conduct accounting reviews and project management meetings with the team and cross-functional departments.
- Provide guidance and coaching to departmental staff, setting goals and ensuring their development.
- Support leadership in achieving the company’s goals and seek continuous improvements in accounting processes and procedures.
- Provide monthly explanations to Finance on flux and budget vs. actuals.

- Expert knowledge of US GAAP and ability to research and navigate technical accounting changes.
- Exceptional project management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with a hands-on approach.
- Effective interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization.
- Positive attitude and adaptability to change and ambiguity.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including roles with increasing responsibility in organizations that have undergone rapid growth (at least $500M in revenue).
- 4+ years of experience leading a team of Managers.
- Big-4 Public Audit background, ideally as a manager or above.
- Strong working knowledge of NetSuite or other large ERP systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Certified Public Accountant License.
- Experience with E-commerce, CPG, and fast-paced startup environments.
- Experience working in a publicly traded company.
