Sports and entertainment business management firm is looking for a Tax Director to join their team in West LA office or Nashville, TN. The position is 100% in-office, but offers great work-life balance. The ideal candidate would have experience leading and executing best business practices, and experience building, leading and managing a tax department. CPA is required. The company can also offer relocation services and has a very competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

• Build, lead, and manage the tax team structure.
• Lead and execute best business practices for technology.
• Lead all meetings with the Director of business management and teams.
• Learning and development including best business practices related to tax.
• Train tax team and the teams for prep and input of the returns.
• Track the profitability of the department
• Review, oversight, and preparation of complex income tax returns including, but not limited to, Corporations, Partnerships, and Individual returns.
• Performance of the quality control review for all financial statements.
• Facilitation of planning and compliance of international tax matters including waivers and tax returns.
• Review and oversight over the required estimated tax payments.
• Creation, maintenance, and adherence to financial and tax reporting policies and procedures.
• Final review and oversight of year-end shareholder bonus process.
• Preparation and final review of tax correspondence and facilitation and oversight of tax audits
• Responsible for compliance of all annual reports, franchise tax returns, and other state returns.
• Prepare invoices for tax services performed
• Review and oversight over quarterly and annual payroll tax returns.
• Overall supervision of all tax staff in the support and operations of their assigned business work team.
• Responsible for managing all department deliverables.
• Review and Oversight of tax preparation work papers and investment reconciliation.
• Reports to CEO.

Qualifications:

• BS in Business, specifically in Accounting, Finance, or Economics with strong academic record.
• 10-15+ years or experience in a Tax practice and 5 years of supervisory experience.
• Active CPA License in CA or TN.
• Experience within a Business Management Firm, Public Accounting Firm, and/or the Entertainment industry where there would be a good transferability of skills.
• Wide range of experience with various types of tax returns, in addition to review of financial statements.
• Proficient use of QuickBooks, Excel, and other tax software and technology.
