Description:

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of two direct reports in overseeing all inventory accounting functions across various locations, including month-end closing, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Examine and reconcile intricate bills of materials (BOMs) and work orders to ensure precise inventory costing and identify production discrepancies.
  • Organize and manage regular inventory counts—prepare count sheets, verify completeness, address inquiries, and conduct post-count reconciliations and ERP adjustments.
  • Analyze inventory transactions for raw materials, prepaid inventory, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods, providing insights on valuation trends and cost of goods sold (COGS) impact.
  • Maintain standard cost structures, execute cost revaluations, analyze variances, and collaborate with operations to align costs with actual figures.
  • Assess and establish reserves for excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory, ensuring appropriate write-downs and disclosures in accordance with GAAP.
  • Work alongside Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to address issues, streamline processes, and implement technology-driven enhancements.
  • Lead ERP improvements by resolving post-implementation challenges and spearheading data clean-up initiatives to ensure accurate inventory and costing records.
  • Monitor and report on key inventory metrics (turnover, days on hand, shrinkage, obsolescence) to aid in decision-making and working capital management.
  • Ensure that inventory accounting entries adhere to U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
  • Develop and implement control procedures to improve inventory accuracy, mitigate risks, and uphold data integrity.
  • Coordinate with auditors by providing necessary documentation, addressing findings, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate cost reporting, tax filings, and preparation of other required documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in inventory accounting within ERP systems, ideally in a complex manufacturing setting; experience with Oracle Fusion is highly desirable.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other software tools to improve efficiency and data analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, working independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior staff.
