Leading global investment firm in Downtown LA is looking for Manager and Senior Managers for a unique finance/accounting rotational opportunity. The role will will be primarily focused on accounting resource needs, including Fund Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Corporate Accounting but can extend to other departments as well (including Tax and Treasury, Trade Support, Corporate Actions, Shared Services, Expense Management & Analysis, Finance Operations, etc.). Excellent opportunity to gain experience in different departments.
Responsibilities:
- Fund Accounting: preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to clients; analyzing and calculating of performance metrics for partnerships/accounts as well as for each investment; coordinating with the funds’ independent auditors, custodians, prime brokers and fund administrators; reviewing calculations of fund and client-specific performance, etc.;
- Corporate Finance: analyzing drivers of historical financial performance, including key trends that are impacting the business; understanding the components, drivers and evolution of Oaktree’s expenses and forecasting them accordingly; supporting Corporate Financing activities, including budgeting and preparation of materials for external parties;
- Corporate Accounting: preparing financial calculations and account analyses, including supporting schedules on a monthly and quarterly basis, collaborating with internal and external auditors in annual audits and quarterly reviews, performing certain key internal control processes, etc.
- Participating in ad hoc projects as requested.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (and/or equivalent experience). CPA or MBA a plus.
- Minimum 5-8 years of relevant accounting or audit experience within public accounting or a mix of public accounting and investment management industry experience;
- Understanding of Fund Accounting and Operations business processes, and ability to initiate and lead process improvements and documentation of standard operating procedures;
- Solid analytical skills and ability to understand and resolve complex problems;
- Knowledge of US GAAP accounting, operations, reconciliations, account analysis, and management reporting;
- Experience in project management, financial management and change management is a plus; and
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams and PowerPoint.
