Payroll Analyst role for a client near Monrovia. The Payroll Analyst is part of the Team that provides full-service, entirely in-house payroll services issuing weekly and bi-weekly payroll. Responsibilities of the Payroll Department are divided into two main functions. All members of the Payroll Department, are expected to be cross-trained and assume responsibilities for both areas. Given the inherently high degree of precision, accuracy, and timeliness required of the Payroll function, responding to employee inquiries/concerns, and the highly sensitive and confidential nature of the work, the incumbent is expected to provide professional-level payroll support to all internal customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Payroll processing (regular and interim/special), maintenance of employee payroll records, garnishment processing, all in compliance with federal, state, and local wage-payment regulations
  • Bookkeeping/accounting and analysis of all payroll-related GL accounts
  • Collaborative, proactive interaction with Human Capital Management and operational units to ensure a timely payroll process
  • Full reconciliation/validation of data prior to transmission/remittance with adherence to standardized processes to maintain a controlled environment
  • Knowledge and application of taxation requirements and reporting, including monitoring and incorporating tax law changes in the Department’s execution of its responsibilities
  • Knowledge and application of employee benefits tax treatment, including company-provided vehicle benefits
  • Knowledge of application of employee benefit deductions
  • Ability to understand the application of sick, vacation, and PTO benefits
  • May be responsible for responding to internal and external audit data requests
  • Self-review their own and review/cross-check other team members’ work to support a “no-error” goal
  • Collaborate with coworkers on solutions and options, keeping the team well-informed on issues, changes, and new requirements
  • Identify issues that require management’s review and input
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of all Payroll and Human Capital Management (HCM) Department information, including verbally, electronically, and physically securing records
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities, taking on challenges while remaining professional
  • Takes lead on delivery of all tax returns/reports
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned 

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business preferred Certified Payroll
  • Professional (CPP) credential highly preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Payroll and Payroll Tax areas
  • High aptitude and proficiency in use of software applications, especially advanced Excel skills
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
