Overview: Pacific Executive Search has been engaged on a search for a Payroll Manager role in Pasadena with a billion dollar tech company that operates globally. Great hybrid schedule with 1-2 days in office and room to grow career into a director level.


  • Manage the accurate and timely processing of weekly, biweekly, and monthly payrolls for multiple states and union and non-union subsidiaries
  • Supervise a team of 3-4 payroll administrators
  • Review and submit payroll files to ADP on a weekly or biweekly basis
  • Follow payroll best practices, guidelines, and procedures
  • Suggest enhancements and automation for payroll processes
  • Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems
  • Supervise payroll changes such as new hires, terminations, and raises
  • Review manual checks and wires
  • Assist in conversions and acquisitions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Coach and oversee team members
  • Collaborate with auditors on various audits
  • Test new extensions, upgrades, and projects
  • Work with HR and Accounting teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare audit reports
  • Resolve payroll-related issues and inquiries
  • Coordinate Workers Compensation and Multiple Work Site reports
  • Manage SUI rate changes and investigate ADP charges
  • Assist in resolving tax variances
  • Coordinate quarter and year-end activities
  • Test new processes and interfaces with IT
  • Provide professional customer service to internal and external parties


  • 3+ years of experience as a payroll manager handling 5000+ employees
  • Experience with multistate payroll
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Knowledge of payroll procedures and laws
  • Familiarity with ADP Vantage or WFN, ADPR reporting
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
  • Experience in system implementations
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational and leadership capabilities
  • BSC/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field
  • CPP designation required
  • Understanding of labor and payroll tax laws
  • Proficiency in Excel and analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
