Title: Senior Accountant

Overview: Pacific Executive Search has been engaged on a search for a Senior Accountant in the South Bay area within the Manufacturing industry. This role offers the opportunity to support month-end and year-end close, analysis and reporting, manage intercompany accounting, and support audits. The candidate will have the chance to lead projects, implement process improvements, and provide leadership and guidance to staff accountants. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution and analysis of both monthly and annual financial closing processes, including report generation.
  • Oversee the accounting activities between company divisions, focusing on enhancement and streamlining.
  • Conduct research on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to support and refine accounting processes.
  • Monitor financial transactions within SAP, resolving any technical issues in collaboration with the IT department.
  • Conduct thorough account reconciliations, including investigation and adjustment entries.
  • Execute the creation and submission of journal entries.
  • Compose detailed analytical commentaries on financial matters.
  • Detect and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Organize and provide essential documents for external audit purposes.
  • Regularly produce and distribute financial reports and data.
  • Document and maintain accounting procedures and practices.
  • Propose and apply improvements to accounting processes.
  • Communicate financial transaction details effectively, utilizing T-Accounts.
  • Lead and manage accounting projects, ensuring diligent follow-through.
  • Offer mentorship and direction to junior accounting staff.
  • Conduct and lead training sessions for accounting teams.
  • Research and prepare position papers on GAAP topics.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a similar discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of accounting experience, with at least two years in public accounting being advantageous.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Highly organized with a proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements in previous roles.
  • Experience with SAP software is desirable.
  • CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with Tableau software is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
