An exciting consumer products company in the South Bay is looking for a Senior Accountant. The company is involved in selling dozens of cosmetic brands direct to consumers. This role will be actively involved in processing accounting transactions, preparing reconciliations and compiling and analyzing financial reports. There is a lot of exposure to senior executives throughout the organization and this is a great opportunity for someone to get their footing in a large organization and launch their career.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries and underlying analysis to support the month-end close process
- Perform reconciliations of data from other sources and systems to the general ledger for completeness of reports
- Competent knowledge of FASB requirements, accounting principles, and practices
- Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles with a robust understanding of internal control principles
- Perform ad hoc research and analysis on various areas of accounting issues in support of special projects or requests from business areas
- Review and analyze new contracts and determine accounting implications
- Prepare royalty schedules and distribute royalty statements and payments in accordance with contracts
- Play an active role in month-end close process by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss and Cash Flow Statements on multiple product lines and research unexpected variances
- Prepare various deliverables to support the preparation of the financial statements and/or requests for information from all business functions
- Compile and analysis/reports for the quarterly reviews, annual audit, tax return preparation or other audits
- Complete ad-hoc projects and analysis as determined by management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Advanced Excel skills, including experience with various formulas including lookups, pivot tables, and If statements
- 4 to 6 years of experience in accounting
- Audit experience at Big 4 or mid-size firm, or experience at an equivalent company that is fast paced
- Experience in a mix of industries or Retail/Consumer products
- Hands on experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements preferred
- Understanding of general accounting procedures and impact on other areas of the business
- Must be detail-oriented with a high standard of accuracy and precision with a sense of urgency
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfort in working with individuals at all organizational levels
- Must show initiative and have strong problem-solving skills with a strong sense of accountability
- Must be a team player
- Likes to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
- Exemplary time management and organizational levels
- Ability to prioritize and multitask between projects
