Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring all reconciliations are accurate to maintain the integrity of financial reports.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations and analyses of various balance sheet accounts, documenting fluctuations for comparative periods.
  • Create and document accounting policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to spearhead initiatives aimed at process improvement.
  • Engage with both internal and external auditors as needed.
  • Work closely with operations staff to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business, facilitating the creation of precise and timely operational financial statements.
  • Participate in or lead various projects and accounting functions as directed by management.
  • Coordinate with accounts payable to ensure accurate expense coding and oversee recommended payment reports and sub-ledger reconciliations.
  • Assist in reviewing fixed asset accounts to confirm correct coding and compliance with capitalization policies.
  • Handle special accounting and finance projects as required.
  • Implement accounting policies and procedures that promote best practices.
  • Suggest improvements to policies, procedures, and system applications to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in all financial reporting.
  • Gather and analyze financial data for comprehensive reporting.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets along with analytical commentary for the operations team.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of financial concepts including budgeting, forecasting, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Support daily accounting operations with a focus on automation and process enhancement.
  • Foster relationships with cross-functional partners and external parties to support company initiatives and assist with ad hoc projects.
  • Participate in SOX compliance control testing as required.
  • Contribute to the monthly accounting close process by performing variance analysis to ensure accuracy.
  • Generate timely and detailed financial reporting summaries and analyses for operational use.
  • Accurately prepare monthly and quarterly accruals, reclassification entries, and variance analyses.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities that enhance accounting and finance efficiency while increasing the value of information provided to internal teams and partners.
  • Respond to financial inquiries by collecting, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting relevant data.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to discern business and financial matters effectively.
  • Strong work ethic and a high level of accountability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
