Our real estate client in Downtown Los Angeles is looking for a strong Senior Fund Controller to help manages the work activities of an accounting team, and oversee the accounting and reporting requirements on fund investments including set up and accounting for complex multi-tier investment entities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for funds and separate accounts prior to submittal to client and investors
  • Produce statements and other required financial information including but not limited to investor-funded and unfunded commitments, asset accrual methodology, and output
  • Prepare periodic financial statements and assist with audit and tax preparation and audit review.
  • Manage portfolio budgets, forecasts, and reports for clients/investors.
  • Manage the treasury/ cash management function and ensures an adequate accounting function
  • Review system prepared reports and supporting schedules for accuracy
  • Reviews and signs-off on fund-level bank account reconciliations
  • Monitor financial performance, provides a forward-looking view and strategic advice to the executive leadership team
  • Review periodic P&L calculations at the fund and investor levels
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting progress, reviewing new contracts and business opportunities
  • Manage financial transactions related to new business proposals

Qualifications:

  • CPA license 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
  • A minimum of six years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Prior experience in fund-level accounting is required with real estate accounting or fund accounting software systems
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents
  • Ability to effectively write reports, manuals, speeches, and articles using a distinctive style.
  • Ability to effectively respond, verbally and written, to sensitive issues, complex inquiries, or complaints. 
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB, REIS, IFRS, and in-region/in-country standards
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems with limited information
  • Advance economics, math, and analytical skills and the ability to apply them in the pursuit of diverse situations
  • Knowledge of real estate terms, definitions, and real estate analytical methodology
  • Advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite Products). Ability to work in multiple accounting software applications.
