Overview: Pacific Executive Search has been engaged on a search for a Senior Investment Accountant in South Orange County within the Financial Services – Investment Management industry. Description:
**Responsibilities:**
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, analysis, and supporting documentation.
- Document fund cash transactions promptly.
- Verify and align external property financials with Yardi.
- Review and validate property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinance transactions recorded by external property management accountants.
- Manage property level capital calls and monitor self-escrowed cash balances.
- Calculate fund distributions and capital calls, ensure timely payments, and update Yardi accordingly.
- Compute asset management fees and other necessary calculations in compliance with relevant documents.
- Assist with external audit testing and respond to internal tax and investor relations inquiries.
- Support fund budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with Accounting Manager and Fund Controller to produce quarterly fund financial statements and required financial information.
- Review work of Investment Accountant as directed by Accounting Manager and/or Fund Controller.
- Understand fund accounting per governing documents and legal agreements.
- Maintain knowledge of general ledger structure and investment accounting module in Yardi for all funds.
- Address escalated issues promptly and accurately.
- Research and provide solutions for technical GAAP and operational questions.
- Lead by example and uphold company values.
- Perform other duties and projects as needed.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum five (5) years of financial accounting experience in real estate investment, development, private equity, or investment advisory, or three (3) years in public accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel intermediate level) and accounting software (Yardi experience a plus).
- Detail-oriented, organized, with high integrity, motivation, and intellectual curiosity.
- Ability to work effectively in complex organizational structures, requiring strong influencing and collaboration skills.
