Overview: Pacific Executive Search has been engaged on a search for a Senior Tax Manager/Tax Director in West LA. As the main Tax person at the firm, you would oversee third-party tax consultants, manage global tax compliance, and lead tax audits and controversies. This role offers the opportunity to work in the dynamic Financial Services – Investment Management industry and take on new responsibilities while maintaining a hybrid work schedule for a better quality of life.

Description:
**Responsibilities**

  • Supervise third-party tax consultants to ensure timely submission of federal, state, and local tax returns and investor K-1s or other relevant investor tax documents for the Company, its subsidiaries, funds/partnerships, and special purpose vehicles (SPVs) by contracted deadlines (e.g., March 31st/July 31st).
  • Ensure timely fulfillment of investor requests.
  • Ensure compliance with FATCA/CRS reporting requirements and deadlines, including developing and implementing robust compliance procedures.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of United States international tax laws and ensure timely completion of all filings and payments.
  • Oversee global tax compliance, including reviewing the preparation and filing of international, federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • Supervise indirect tax compliance and accounting, particularly related to transfer pricing.
  • Support tax-related due diligence and structuring, primarily managed by external advisors, especially during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Understand and communicate to investors the strategies for minimizing the Company's tax leakage while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assist in determining the appropriate tax accounting treatment for acquisitions (domestic and international), sales, recapitalizations, and other transactions.
  • Review fund documents, lower-tier partnership agreements, and the tax implications of economic agreements (e.g., tax allocations, distribution preferences).
  • Act as a tax subject matter expert, collaborating cross-functionally with finance, legal, and other business functions.
  • Assess and mitigate tax risks associated with the company's business activities.
  • Implement controls and processes to ensure accurate and compliant tax reporting.
  • Lead the preparation and filing of various tax documents, including 1099s and Form 1042s.
  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting for income taxes.
  • Oversee required tax reporting to tax authorities and stakeholders.
  • Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, responding to information requests.
  • Ensure resolution of all tax notices.
  • Collaborate with external advisors, legal counsel, and auditors to effectively address tax matters.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the accounting department.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal partners, peers, and external consultants.

**Qualifications**

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in a combination of public accounting and private/industry in a tax accounting capacity.
  • Active CPA license.
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience within the private equity industry, including partnership and corporate returns and K-1s, and technical tax knowledge within the partnership context (e.g., depreciation, basis establishment and allocation, carried interest, etc.).
  • Experience with nonprofit and international client base.
  • Experience in managing third party CPA firms and outsourced resources.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Equity Works is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to make thoughtful decisions and solve problems.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical skills, maturity, and sound judgment are essential.
