We are hiring for a fully remote Senior Tax Planning Advisor for a sophisticated private wealth management firm HQ in LA – the position is due to growth! The firm's clients are medium to high-net-worth individuals and business owners needing strategies in the areas of taxation, estate planning, and business financial strategies. This is a true tax financial planning strategy role focusing on planning, advisory, and projections versus compliance work. There is no tax preparation work and no selling or pushing of any product. Responsibilities:

  • Talking to clients to determine their assets, income, insurance coverage, financial objectives, tax status, risk tolerance, or other information needed to understand their current financial status
  • Reviewing personal and/or business financial statements, tax returns and supporting schedules for clients on a cash basis or US GAAP basis, (as applicable)
  • Understanding complex accounting issues and solving for client needs
  • Proactive planning for clients to develop plans that create value for clients
  • Interacting daily with multiple high net worth clients and various service providers
  • Facilitating cross functional communications and cohesion with investment, tax and financial planning teams both in-house and externally
  • Developing strategies for improving client services
  • Proactively managing ad-hoc client requests

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field.
  • CPA
  • 5+ years of experience as a tax CPA (not an auditor)
  • Experience filing tax returns
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, Filters), Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience in client service industry
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Solution oriented approach to work performance
  • Meticulous attention to detail (thorough and accurate)
  • Exceptional self-management skills: organization, time management, prioritization and analytical skills
  • Empowering management style with effective delegation abilities

  • Proper phone etiquette for both inbound and outbound calls
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable meeting with clients and team members primarily via Zoom.

We’d like to see:

  • Public accounting experience; Big 4 firm experience
  • Experience working in client service industry, with exposure to serving high net worth individuals/families
  • Experience with CRMs, such as Salesforce
