Overview: Pacific Executive Search has been engaged on a search for a a Tax Manager role with a prominent real estate investment management company in West LA. This is a hybrid position that will oversee all income, property and legal entities. Most of the entities are structured as REITs and they use an outside firm for some of the compliance. This role would be responsible for overseeing that relationship and managing filings and K-1s.

Description:
**Responsibilities:**

  • Oversee all income, personal property, sales, and business taxes for all legal entities within the structure, including ongoing research of relevant federal and state tax laws.
  • Manage relationships with US and international CPA firms.
  • Provide necessary information for CPA firms' filings, ensuring consistent tax treatment among all entities.
  • Coordinate cost segregation engagements and asset recording for tax and book purposes.
  • Determine asset capitalization or expensing treatment for tax and book purposes.
  • Consult with CPA firms and management on tax-related matters.
  • Review calculations and make estimated tax payments.
  • File informational returns and provide tax provision calculations for corporate investors.
  • Maintain legal standing for all entities and assist with entity closures when necessary.
  • Ensure REIT entities maintain qualification.
  • Advise on tax implications of sales for internal and external entities.
  • Manage and resolve issues from tax filings.
  • Provide tax-related information to investors and internal staff.
  • Prepare and distribute all Schedules and Forms 1042S, calculate withholding, and manage escrow accounts.
  • Record payments and receipts for closing entities, manage unclaimed property, and file required tax forms.
  • Maintain tax-related software.

**Qualifications:**

  • Minimum 5 years of tax experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with various software systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or Certified Treasury Professional accreditation.
  • Real estate experience and knowledge of Yardi Voyager a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective at managing multiple priorities.
  • High degree of independent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with multiple solution options.
