Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all federal, state, and local tax submissions for funds, entities, and special purpose vehicles in collaboration with external tax advisors and fund administrators.
  • Ensure the timely and precise distribution of investor K-1s and associated tax documents; address investor inquiries as necessary.
  • Monitor adherence to FATCA, CRS, and other relevant tax reporting regulations.
  • Maintain tax calendars and ensure that critical filing deadlines are consistently met across all entities.
  • Assist with the tax implications of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and recapitalizations.
  • Review partnership agreements and transaction documentation to assess tax consequences, including promote structures, waterfall models, and allocations.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on tax-efficient structures that align with investment objectives and market trends.
  • Collaborate closely with the CFO, Accounting, Legal, Asset Management, and Acquisitions teams on tax matters related to funds and deals.
  • Maintain effective relationships with external advisors, ensuring accountability for deliverables and quality of service.
  • Contribute to enhancements in processes and internal documentation regarding tax controls, compliance protocols, and investor communications.
  • Prepare for and address inquiries from tax authorities; manage audits and related documentation requests.
  • Assist with tax-related components of the firm’s annual audit and periodic regulatory assessments.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of progressive tax experience in the real estate sector, ideally combining public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) with in-house private equity experience or solely in public accounting.
  • Active CPA license is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive technical knowledge in partnership taxation and private equity real estate structures, including K-1s, 704(b), 752 basis rules, REITs, and promote/carried interest mechanics.
  • Experience in managing third-party CPA firms and tax advisors.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across functions in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
