We are seeking a Tax Manager for a leading international law firm that provides innovative legal solutions to many of the world's top financial institutions and Fortune Global 500 companies. The Tax Manager will be responsible for helping to manage, maintain and assist with all tax-related duties and responsibilities associated with a global partnership. This includes participating in the annual federal K-1 filings and various state tax compliance filings for US states, reviewing quarterly income tax projections for partners, understanding partner distributions and other partner payments for allocation of taxable income, managing any tax audit, reviews, or other tax compliance related projects, researching tax issues and questions for internal departments, monitoring and reconciling partner capital accounts as needed, and reviewing staff reconciliation of partner tax accounts annually.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the annual federal K-1 filings and various state tax compliance filings for US states;
  • Participate and review quarterly income tax projections for partners;
  • Understanding of partner distributions and other partner payments for allocation of taxable income;
  • Participate and manage any tax audit, reviews, or other tax compliance-related projects;
  • Research tax issues and questions for internal departments;
  • Monitor and reconcile partner capital accounts as needed;
  • Review staff reconciliation of partner tax accounts annually;
  • Work closely with other functional areas such as accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, budget, and treasury groups;
  • Supervise staff members work to ensure that best practices are followed, including updating policies and procedures to fit the current conditions of the business;
  • Identify, review, and recommend changes to processes related to the functional areas effort to streamline workflow;
  • Complete understanding of the impact on exchange rates and the ability to work in a multi-currency environment;
  • Manage the fixed asset system and reconcile the system to the firm books monthly;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with K-1 recipients about their tax documents and footnotes;
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of partnerships, pass-through entities, and fiscal year ends;
  • Ability to work with outside tax advisors and accountants in other countries as needed;
  • Conduct annual job performance reviews for staff; and
  • Handle additional related projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in administering Windows and web-based accounting programs, particularly for legal-specific accounting systems (Elite 3E), FAS Fixed Assets, and Chrome River;
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite applications; including Outlook, Word, and Excel;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with external audit and tax professionals;
  • Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of accounting; and
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a distributive team and organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance (strongly preferred);
  • Preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (preferred);
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing people, preferably in a large environment; and, at least 6 years of financial systems experience (required);
  • At least 7 years of general accounting experience (required); and
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet Firm needs.
