Overview: Pacific Executive Search has been engaged on a search for a Utility Plant Accountant in the San Gabriel Valley area. You would be responsible for capital projects administration, month-end close activities, and other financial support duties. Description: **Responsibilities**

  • Establish work orders for capital projects, including annual budget setup and processing budget transfers as needed
  • Monitor capital project status with Engineers to ensure timely closure and recording of work orders
  • Conduct analysis and reconciliations on various general ledger accounts monthly and quarterly
  • Prepare roll forward schedules for assigned general ledger accounts focusing on utility plant and related accounts
  • Maintain Fixed Asset accounting, including asset set ups, transfers, depreciation, and reconciliation
  • Audit Main Extension Advance Contracts and reconcile contract sub-ledgers to general ledger monthly
  • Resolve data integrity and reporting issues in the contract module
  • Assist in preparing financial support for quarterly Form 10-Q and 10-K filings to the SEC
  • Process Main Extension Contract refunds and monitor accuracy of contract refunds monthly
  • Prepare and record special water rights billing and track payments
  • Assist with data requests from other departments, external auditors, and regulatory agencies
  • Perform other assigned duties

**Qualifications**

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field
  • Five years of accounting experience in water/utility industry preferred
  • Proficient in computerized office equipment and advanced spreadsheet functions (Excel)
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of Access Database a plus
  • Ability to research, interpret, and compile analytical data
  • Physical ability to perform various tasks for extended periods of time
