A leading Los Angeles-based private equity firm focused on operationally-intensive investments in the middle market. They have a proven track record of investing in, restructuring, and growing businesses. They are seeking a Vice President of Portfolio Company Finance (VP). The VP reports to the Portfolio Company Operations Group and is principally responsible for monitoring day-to-day finance activities across multiple portfolio companies, including financial reporting, cash flow management, and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as representative to the portfolio company on day-to-day finance-related activities and act as an effective liaison between portfolio company executive management and the Board of Directors
  • Monitor financial performance, including KPIs, working capital, capital expenditures, debt covenants, taxes, budget, as well as general finance and accounting operations at each portfolio company
  • Partner with CFO at portfolio company to implement best-in-class cash flow management, accounting controls, and treasury operations
  • Participate in weekly cash flow review meetings and manage rolling 13-week cash flow forecast
  • Drive standardization in accounting, reporting, and financial operations and deliver ‘best-in-class’ tools, techniques, and templates to portfolio companies
  • Evaluate portfolio company's financial systems and participate in implementation or upgrade of systems
  • Participate in annual portfolio company audits and tax reporting and ensure they are completed in a timely manner. Effectively communicate to the audit committee on material findings/issues.
  • Drive timely financial reporting from portfolio companies, including BOD presentations
  • Provide regular MD&A on portfolio company performance to support internal and external stakeholder reporting requirements
     

Requirements:

  • BA in Accounting or Finance
    • MBA preferred
  • CPA license
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, recently leading the finance function of an organization
    • private equity or PE-backed company experience preferred
  • Public accounting experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Process-driven individual with a track record of implementing process improvements
  • Exceptional Excel-based financial modeling and budgeting skills
  • Strong capability with MS Office suite, Powerpoint specifically
  • Experience with and working knowledge of SAAS-based accounting / ERP solutions, e.g., NetSuite
  • 50% domestic travel expected
