Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete payroll process for over 1,900 employees, with fluctuations based on seasonal demands.
- Regularly update and maintain payroll system files.
- Gather and compile weekly timesheets and payroll requests.
- Review and approve payroll adjustments.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and adheres to both internal and external policies and regulations.
- Submit payroll reports, tax filings, and state labor reports in a timely and precise manner.
- Manage garnishments and ensure timely processing of obligations such as child support and tax levies.
- Stay informed about current state and federal wage and hour regulations.
- Establish and maintain effective procedures and internal controls for payroll processing.
- Ensure timely remittance of payroll taxes.
- Serve as the main point of contact between the Payroll and Accounting Departments for all relevant functions.
- Oversee the integration and implementation of updates to the payroll system.
- Develop, assess, and manage payroll accounting procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience in indirect supervision.
- Utilization of advanced techniques and specialized knowledge within the payroll function.
- Application of a broad range of principles and practices to diverse assignments.
- Ability to make independent decisions regarding complex issues and methodologies.
- Provide supervision and guidance primarily related to overarching objectives, critical matters, new concepts, and policy issues.
- Act as a liaison between internal and external groups, independently handling matters related to payroll functions.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, typically requiring 7 years in relevant roles.
