Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain the integrity of financial systems, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow management for the organization and its subsidiaries.
- Prepare and present timely financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements, funding draw requests, and financial reporting obligations to lenders, investors, and governmental agencies.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on budget preparation, variance analysis, and financial forecasting to drive organizational success.
- Coordinate the preparation and review of audit materials and tax returns, working closely with external auditors and accounting firms.
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and best practices to safeguard organizational assets.
- Provide financial insights and support for new project underwriting and development initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Must-Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting and finance experience, with a focus on real estate development or affordable housing.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, joint venture structures, and equity waterfalls.
- Experience managing the tax filing process and coordinating with accounting firms for timely federal and state tax return submissions.
- Proficiency with accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, MRI) and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Nice-to-Have:
- Familiarity with affordable housing financing structures (LIHTC, HOME, CDBG, HUD).
- Experience with multi-entity organizational structures.
- Knowledge of payroll systems and experience interfacing with benefits administrators.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a professional and proactive mindset.
