We are seeking a Corporate Controller to join its Los Angeles-based team. This role will report to the CFO.
The scope will span traditional management company accounting, along with fund and portfolio collaboration, quarterly reporting and compliance, and understanding/support in tax-related workstreams.
The ideal candidate would be resourceful, flexible, and balanced. The role can require frequent coordination
between various groups, including the investment team, third party administrators and accounting, tax and legal advisors. Good teamwork and communication skills will be key for success.
Primary functions and essential responsibilities
• Managing the AP process, ensuring proper approval and coding, and preparing weekly wire and ACH payments
• Maintaining vendor records, including W-9s, tax documents and contracts
• Reviewing and approval of employee expense reports
• Lead the month-end closing process for the management company, including preparing journal entries, accruals and reconciliations
• Supporting quarter-end and year-end close process and 1099 filings
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal accounting policies
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and support the implementation of new processes and procedures
• Assisting with various ad hoc projects
Qualifications
Education:
• BS/BA with major in Accounting, Economics, or Finance preferred
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Experience Required:
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP)
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc)
