Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of accountants, fostering professional development and a collaborative work environment.
- Oversee the accuracy and compliance of financial records for corporate entities and property portfolios, ensuring adherence to GAAP.
- Manage the preparation and review of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
- Supervise account reconciliations, monitor transaction processing, and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Coordinate annual audits and tax filings, ensuring timely submission of documentation and compliance with accounting standards.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting workflows and operational efficiency.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to create financial models and reports that support strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Must-Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role; experience in the real estate industry is highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Yardi Property Management Software and Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis).
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and internal controls.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop team members while managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Nice-to-Have:
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license or progress towards certification.
- Experience with project management tools such as Asana.
- Background in commercial real estate accounting and exposure to consolidated accounting and intercompany transactions.
- Familiarity with property management accounting practices.
