Operations Associate

Overview

An established investment firm managing a multi-billion-dollar credit portfolio seeks an Operations Associate to deepen expertise in syndicated and private loan operations. This role offers direct involvement in the full trade lifecycle, from capture to settlement, within a sophisticated fixed-income environment based in Southern California. Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end processing of broadly syndicated and private loan transactions, including trade capture, documentation, funding, and settlement monitoring.
• Manage the loan closing schedule, coordinating with counterparties, legal teams, and service providers to ensure timely and accurate transaction completion.
• Conduct daily cash and position reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and supporting accurate financial reporting and fund accounting.
• Assist with lifecycle events such as restructurings, securitizations, and complex asset servicing related to private and structured credit portfolios.
• Collaborate with internal investment teams and external administrators to maintain operational readiness for new loan setups and ongoing administration.
• Maintain and enhance process documentation and controls to support scalability and operational resilience across loan operations.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements, working alongside technology and operations colleagues to streamline workflows.

Qualifications

• Must-Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline with strong academic credentials.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in loan or credit operations, preferably within asset management, private credit, CLO management, hedge funds, or banking.
  • Proven knowledge of syndicated loan trade capture, closing, and settlement processes; experience with ClearPar or similar platforms is highly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability to resolve operational breaks and reconcile cash and position discrepancies.
  • Effective communication skills to engage with investment professionals, counterparties, and service providers across complex transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a detail-oriented, deadline-driven environment.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive financial information.
• Nice-to-Have:
  • Familiarity with investment operations platforms such as Geneva, Eze OMS, Solvas, Hazeltree, or GoLoan.
  • Experience supporting CLO trustee reporting and related reconciliations.
  • Interest or experience in leveraging automation tools and AI to enhance operational efficiency.
