Responsibilities

• Prepare and review a diverse range of tax returns including individual 1040s, S and C corporations, partnerships, gift taxes, and trust/estate filings.
• Provide year-round tax planning guidance covering entity structuring, estimated payments, withholding strategies, retirement planning, and compensation analysis.
• Manage client communications and appointments in person and by phone, ensuring clarity and professionalism in explaining complex tax matters.
• Oversee and verify work completed by support staff, identifying discrepancies, errors, or opportunities for tax savings and compliance improvements.
• Represent clients in interactions with IRS and state tax authorities, handling audits, notices, and correspondence effectively.
• Utilize tax preparation software and document management systems to maintain accurate records and streamline workflow.
• Commit to extended work hours during peak tax season while maintaining organization and follow-through across a large client portfolio.

Qualifications

• Must-Have:
  • Active Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA license in good standing with no disciplinary history.
  • Minimum five years of direct tax preparation experience, including managing a substantial client book independently.
  • Proven expertise with individual and business tax returns, including complex entities and trust/estate filings.
  • Strong client relationship skills with a focus on retention and trust-building over long-term engagements.
  • Comfortable working full-time on-site in the South Bay area, handling both face-to-face and telephone client interactions.
  • Ability to represent clients before tax authorities and resolve compliance issues.
• Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience advising on tax planning strategies beyond annual return preparation.
  • Familiarity with Intuit ProSeries or similar tax software and digital document management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate with administrative and preparer staff.
  • Interest in growing an existing client base through new business development.
