Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all accounting and finance functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and legal industry standards.
- Manage and mentor a team of 30 accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Partner with senior management on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning to support business objectives.
- Drive month-end and year-end closings, financial reporting, and variance analysis to provide insights for decision-making.
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, banks, and tax advisors.
- Implement process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with trust accounting and client fund management regulations, safeguarding client interests.
Qualifications
- Must-Have:
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a law firm environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing large accounting teams (20+ members).
- Master’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred.
- Expertise in law firm financial operations, including billing, trust accounting, and partnership distributions.
- Proficiency in legal accounting systems (e.g., Elite 3E, Aderant) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with financial software and ERP systems such as SAP or NetSuite.
- Knowledge of revenue recognition principles and ASC-742.
- High attention to detail and a strategic mindset for financial insights.
