Overview

A privately held real estate investment platform with a focus on premier and growth markets is expanding its finance team to enhance fund and joint venture accounting operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance & Accounting, this position offers direct involvement in fund financial reporting, audit coordination, and treasury management within a sophisticated investment environment. Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities for fund and joint venture entities, ensuring accuracy in journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Maintain comprehensive accounting records for fund and JV structures, reconciling investment and property-level transactions in compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
• Analyze general ledger activity at the fund and JV level, investigate discrepancies, and drive timely resolution of accounting issues.
• Oversee capital activity reconciliations, including investments, management fees, and cash flows, while managing relationships with fund administrators and external accountants.
• Manage capital calls, distributions, and investor allocations, along with daily cash operations such as bank account monitoring and liquidity forecasting.
• Coordinate the preparation and review of financial statements, investor reports, and management packages, while facilitating annual audits and tax engagements.
• Identify and implement process improvements leveraging Excel, Power BI, and automation tools to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Must-Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in public accounting, preferably with exposure to real estate, private equity, or investment management clients.
  • Proven expertise in fund accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger management under U.S. GAAP.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial systems; experience with Power BI or data analytics tools is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to independently managing complex accounting tasks.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with senior leadership, auditors, investors, and external service providers.
• Nice-to-Have:
  • Public accounting experience at a Big 4 or national firm with a focus on real estate or financial services clients.
  • Progress toward or attainment of CPA certification.
  • Experience with automation or AI tools applied to finance and accounting workflows.
  • Familiarity with treasury operations, liquidity management, and investor relations within a fund structure.
